Week 3 - Traditional & Cut Out Animation, The Ant Nest

In this week, we learned so many techniques in order to increase our skill. We have given the tutorial about how to make traditional animation, animation technique and the ants nest tutorial. It's really exciting!! Day by day, hopefully we can improve our skills in developing flash project. Below are my outcome :

Salam DR. and all my lovely classmates. Below is the link for my 1st activity. Feel free to take a look and drop some comments ya. I would love to hear it! Well, did u know I can't sleep last night think about what I'm going to create using animation that I have learnt last week.I have no idea at all. I am sitting in front of laptop and try to find out the idea. I'm not creative actually. However Alhamdulillah, I have finished it within one hour. Luckily I got a charming husband to help me doing laundry and so on during this weekend. ahaha.. so that, I can focus my work. I am happy for that :)

Week 2 - Tracing Images, Gradient

This week we start our lab exercise. We were given some tutorial about flash and practice it in lab class.First tutorial about "Tracing images with onion skin tool".That is great when we can draw the image eventhough we cannot draw at all. By using the onion tool, we can at least draw something but not exactly the same as the original picture. Attached below is my work outcome : I'm trying to draw duck.

1) What is an educational courseware?
Educational software is computer software, the primary purpose of which is teaching or self-learning.It is beneficial for educator such as lecturer, tutor , lecturer in order to deliver knowledge or teaching skills.

1) What is webpage,website,portal?

A web page is a document, typically written in plain text interspersed with formatting instructions of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML, XHTML). A web page may incorporate elements from other websites with suitable markup anchors.

A website, is a collection of related web pages containing images, videos or other digital assets. A website is hosted on at least one web server, accessible via a network such as the Internet or a private local area network through an Internet address known as a Uniform Resource Locator. All publicly accessible websites collectively constitute the World Wide Web.

A portal is a web site that functions as a point of access to information on the World Wide Web. A portal presents information from diverse sources in a unified way.


2) What are multimedia elements that can be integrated into a webpage?

Multimedia comes in many different formats. It can be almost anything you can hear or see like text, pictures, music, sound, videos, records, films, animations, and more.

On the Internet you can often find multimedia elements embedded in web pages, and modern web browsers have support for a number of multimedia formats.

3)How to integrate graphics into a webpage?
There are a lot of software that can be used to edit the graphics and placed it into a webpage. For example, we can use Adobe Photoshop, Flash and save it as jpg,png.

4)What are the graphics file extensions that can be accepted in WWW medium?

c)      Java applet

5) How to integrate audios videos into a webpage and what are the file extensions?
We can integrate audio into a webpage by embedding the audio format such as .wav, .wma, .mp3 into HTML editor.


6.      How to integrate animations into a webpage and what are the file extensions?
The file extension for animation is . swf file.

7. What are the software that can be used to develop a webpage?

We can use Joomla, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Frontpage, HTML editor to develop a webpage.

8. How to make your webpage interactive?

Here are some tips for making your website more interactive.

•    Promote Your Social Profiles—Today, companies of all sizes and from all industries are creating profiles on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, and other social sites. An easy way to add an element of interactivity to your website is to feed your updates onto a sidebar on your site. Twitter has many options for badges you can easily install on your website to display your most recent Tweets.

•    Maintain a Blog–This is probably the most obvious tip on the list, but it can still be the most effective. If you can create and maintain an interesting blog, the level of interactivity on your website will go through the roof. An active comments section will keep your readers coming back on a regular basis. Just make sure you follow these tips for getting more comments and for what to do when you get comments on your blog.

•    Create a Game—Okay, so you probably don’t have the skills to design a game for your website. However, you might want to consider making an investment into hiring someone to create an online game. Online games have been used successfully in several viral marketing campaigns. As an example, Peerflix-a P2P DVD trading company- created an online paparazzi game that made players snap photos of celebrities to earn points. The game was simple but effective. In only 90 days, 2 million people had played the game. 5% of these people (or 100,000) went on to view the Peerflix website. This is a great example of how a simple game can boost your brand awareness.

9. What are the skills that you have to learn to make your webpage interactive?

I have to know use Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver to make webpage interactive.

10. What are ASP, JSP, Cold Fusion, PHP etc?

ASP : Microsoft Active Server Page (ASP) is a server-side scripting technology that can be used to create dynamic and interactive Web applications. An ASP page is an HTML page that contains server-side scripts that are processed by a web server before being sent to the user’s browser. You can combine ASP with Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) to create powerful interactive Web sites.

ASP is a feature of the Microsoft Internet Information Server. Since the server-side script is building a regular HTML page, it can be served to almost any browser. An ASP file can be created by including a script written in VBScript or JScript in an HTML file.

JSP : (JavaServer Page) An extension to the Java servlet technology from Sun that allows HTML to be combined with Java on the same page. The Java provides the processing, and the HTML provides the layout on the Web page.

Cold Fusion : is a programming language based on standard HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) that is used to write dynamic webpages

PHP : Hypertext Preprocessor is a widely used, general-purpose scripting language that was originally designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages..

Standalone Application and Web

1) Are both using the same technology?
No.

2) What are the differences?

Standalone Application is about capable of operating without other programs, libraries, computers, hardware, networks, etc. Exactly what is absent is presumed to be obvious from context.

Meanwhile a web application is an application that is accessed over a network such as the Internet or an intranet. The term may also mean a computer software application that is hosted in a browser-controlled environment (e.g. a Java applet) or coded in a browser-supported language (such asJavaScript, combined with a browser-rendered markup language like HTML) and reliant on a common web browser to render the application executable.

3)When is the appropriate time to develop standalone application or web based application?

We can develop standalone application anytime we intend to do it eventhough there is no internet connection. However the web based application only can be developed when there is internet connection avalaible.

4) Which one you prefer?

I would prefer to use standalone because it can be used anytime and anywhere as I wish.

Week 1 - Course Outline

Salam to our respective lecturer, Prof Madya Dr. Zaidatun and all my classmates. For your information, I didn't attend the first class for this subject. I am pretty sad for that.. Last week on the same day, I have attend class MPT1383(Video Animation Technology Production). In order to take that subject I should know the very basic about flash and dreamweaver. The authoring system's course outline offer about those software. So that lecturer suggest me to drop that subject and take authoring system first. The reason is that class will use and experience the flash and dreamweaver software. If I didn't take this class yet, so difficult for us to catch up that subject.


When go through the course outline, I feel very excited because we will learn about flash and dream weaver in this class. I do hope that at the end of the class I can manage myself to build application using those software.
